FAKE SHUNGITE TESTING
We purchased a piece of fake Shungite. It was supposed to be Elite Shungite, but just one look at it, you could see it was not real. As you can see from the picture above it is TOO shiny and there are no imperfections. Perfect to fool you.
We decided to do some tests and a short video to show you what fake shungite will do.
Simply using a torch to see if it is conductive is not a test I would recommend as Terahertz passes that
test.
This man made piece of Terahertz (which we THINK it is) reacts differently to the real Shungite.
Check it out here.
ELITE SHUNGITE
Shungite Masters is also aware of regular Shungite being passed off as Elite Shungite. These sellers either don’t know the difference or are trying to deceive you.
You will always only find Elite Shungite in its raw form in a nugget shape. Elite cannot be worked into a shape or a bead so these are just plainly fake and do not purchase. See here for the different types of Shungite
TESTING OF SHUNGITE
Shungite is a rare black mineral that has unique properties such as electrical conductivity, antioxidant activity, and protection from electromagnetic radiation. However, not all shungite products are authentic, and some sellers may try to deceive you with fake shungite.
Here are some tips on how to spot verified shungite in three easy steps:
- Visual check: Real shungite has an intense black colour with possible infusions of golden, gray, or brown colours from other minerals like pyrite and quartz. Fake shungite may have a different colour or a stronger shine than real shungite. Real shungite may also leave black residue on your skin or clothes due to its high carbon content, which is a natural property of the mineral.
- Electrical conductivity test: Real shungite can conduct electric current because of its unique forms of carbon. You can use a multimeter or a simple light bulb circuit to test the conductivity of your shungite product. If the multimeter shows zero resistance or the light bulb lights up, then your shungite is real. Fake shungite may not conduct electricity at all or have a higher resistance than real shungite.
- Water test: Real shungite can purify water by removing harmful substances and enriching it with beneficial minerals. You can place your shungite product in a glass of water and observe the changes after a few hours or days. If the water becomes clearer, tastes better, and has small bubbles on the surface, then your shungite is real. Fake shungite may not affect the water quality at all or make it worse.
These are some of the ways to identify verified shungite from fake ones. You can also check the source and reputation of the seller before buying any shungite product. Remember that genuine shungite is only mined in one region on Earth: the Republic of Karelia in Russia.
